Examen New Years Service
Psalm 103
1 Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
6 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people of Israel:
8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.
15 The life of mortals is like grass,
they flourish like a flower of the field;
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
and its place remembers it no more.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting
the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children—
18 with those who keep his covenant
and remember to obey his precepts.
19 The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Praise the Lord, you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his bidding,
who obey his word.
21 Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts,
you his servants who do his will.
22 Praise the Lord, all his works
everywhere in his dominion.
Praise the Lord, my soul.

Happy New Year NewDay!
As we are 2 days into 2026, I pray that as a new calendar turns over, into a new year, you are feeling hopeful, excited and anticipating what God is doing in you, your families, our church family, our communities and our world.
This Sunday, we will share Communion together, and spend time worshiping God, and reflecting on the year using the practice of Examen, made by St, Ignatius, 500 year ago. We will also be looking ahead, seeking God, His way for us as a church, and praying together. Afterwards, we will be having our 3rd Annual Pancake morning together, to celebrate the New Year!
I have been reading in Isaiah the past few days. I hope you will encouraged by the prophet Isaiah's words, spoken to a people long ago, and still speak to us.
Isaiah 42:5-9
"Thus says God, the Lord,
who created the heavens and stretched them out,
who spread out the earth and what comes from it,
who gives breath to the people on it
and spirit to those who walk in it:
6 “I am the Lord; I have called you[b] in righteousness;
I will take you by the hand and keep you;
I will give you as a covenant for the people,
a light for the nations,
7 to open the eyes that are blind,
to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon,
from the prison those who sit in darkness.
8 I am the Lord; that is my name;
my glory I give to no other,
nor my praise to carved idols.
9 Behold, the former things have come to pass,
and new things I now declare; (emphasis mine)
before they spring forth
I tell you of them.”
Isaiah 43:16-19
16 Thus says the Lord,
who makes a way in the sea,
a path in the mighty waters,
17 who brings forth chariot and horse,
army and warrior;
they lie down, they cannot rise,
they are extinguished, quenched like a wick:
18 “Remember not the former things,
nor consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I am doing a new thing; (emphasis mine)
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert."
May you praise God for who He is, and what He has done. May you be confident of what He will do! And, hold hope and excitment for God's new things that He is doing amongst us. We will be praising, praying and sharing these encouragements on Sunday. I look forward to seeing you.
